Trade between Serbia and Germany may exceed three billion euros

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić met today with the executive director of the Committee of German Economy in Eastern Europe Rainer Lindner, to discuss the promotion of bilateral economic cooperation and create conditions for increasing trade between Serbia and Germany.

Ljajić and Lindner expressed hope that the trade between Serbia and Germany will continue the growth trend achieved in the first quarter of this year and that it will reach an amount that exceeds 3 billion euros by the end of 2014.

Both sides agreed that the branches of energy, infrastructure, food processing and tourism will have an important role in the development of economic relations between the two countries in the coming period, adding that forming a Serbian – German Chamber of Commerce would give an additional boost to forwarding cooperation.

During the meeting, they stressed the importance of the assistance that Serbia is expecting from EU countries in the process of repairing the damage caused by the recent floods, and Lindner informed Ljajić that a large number of companies from Germany expressed their readiness to assist Serbia in eliminating the consequences of this natural disaster.
