Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić stated today that the deployment of three transmitters on Fruška Gora enables the quality reception of digital signal for approximately ten thousand citizens of Petrovaradin and Beočin.

The Minister said that the repeaters in Stari Ledinci, Beočin and Bukovac were deployed today.

“This means that 10,000 citizens of the municipalities of Petrovaradin and Beočin, as well as part of the weekend-settlement on Fruška Gora, will have the opportunity to view 22 new television channels, with maximum picture quality”, said Ljajić upon the deployment of the transmitter in Stari Ledinci.

Ten of these 22 channels, he elaborated, have national coverage, while 12 are local and regional television stations.

He announced the deployment of another repeater in Bela Crkva this week, where 8,000 citizens with poor signal reception will be able to view television with excellent picture and sound quality.

“The deployment of these four repeaters will enable 99 percent of the population of Vojvodina to receive the digital signal without any problems”, said the Minister.

He added that the deployment of another repeater in Vršac is planned, requiring the local self-government to implement the necessary infrastructure.

Current signal coverage in Serbia, he noted, is at 97.82 percent of the population, and the maximum planned coverage level to be achieved will be 98.5 percent.

“We have created a huge, significant endeavor, both technologically and financially, because digitalization has proven to be the best investment. We invested 37 million euros, and received over 100 million euros of pure income from the sale of the released frequencies”, noted Ljajić.
