World Tourism Day celebrated every year on September 27 was marked in Serbia by hosting the annual tourism awards ceremony – The Tourism Flower, the highest national award in the field of tourism. The ceremony was held at the Palace of Serbia, and the winners from 5 categories were awarded as follows:
1st category: Tourism organization – Tourism organization of the Municipality of Knjaževac
2nd category: Tourism Event – “Nišville Jazz Festival”, Niš
3rd category: Incoming Travel Agency – “TA Taraturs”, Bajina Bašta
4th category: Accommodation and catering facility:
– Hotel: “Moskva” Hotel, Belgrade
– Rural household: Tourist Recreation Center „Momčilo Čeković“, Koštunići
5th category: Organization or Individual for the Contribution to Tourism Enhancement and Tourism Service Quality Rising:
– Organization: Regional Development Agency Zlatibor
– Individual: Bora Dimitrijević, Director of the National Museum of Zaječar
Special awards:
1. “Petnica” Science Center
2. “Radulovački” Eco-center
The National Tourism Organization of Serbia as the organization responsible for the European Commission’s project entitled European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) awarded the winners of the national competition for the European Destinations of Excellence in Serbia. The theme of this year’s EDEN project in Serbia and in other European countries was “Tourism and Local Gastronomy”, and the winner is the Municipality of Pirot, followed by Sjenica and Leskovac.
