Subotica, Sombor and Kikinda switch to digital television

As part of the digitization process, in accordance with the plan of transition to digital television broadcasting, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications announced the full transition to digital broadcasting of terrestrial TV signals and the switch-off of analog TV transmitters in the areas of Subotica, Sombor and Kikinda, on May 8, at noon.

The transition from analog to digital broadcasting will be marked at the “Crveno selo” broadcasting station near Subotica. The event will be attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Mrs. Tatjana Matić.

The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications reminded the citizens of these areas who receive TV signals via room or roof antennas to acquire equipment to receive digital signals, and vulnerable consumers to take advantage of the vouchers for the subsidized purchase of STBs, in order to prepare for the full transition to digital television broadcasting. Citizens in the areas of Subotica, Sombor and Kikinda will not be able to watch TV after May 8, without the proper equipment for receiving digital signals.

After switching off the analog signal in these areas, digital broadcasting will provide citizens with a better picture and sound, a greater selection of channels, and the possibility to choose subtitling for the content.
