Strengthening the economic ties between Serbia and Iran

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić met today with Iran’s Ambassador to Serbia Majid Fahimpour, with whom he discussed further steps towards improving the overall economic relations between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Ljajić and Ambassador to Fahimpour confirmed that a major Iranian political and business delegation will be visiting Serbia from September 16 through 19. The delegation will be comprised of officials of the ministries of agriculture, industry, mining, trade, tourism and sport, as well as of central bank experts and businesspeople from the private sector.

The visit by the Iranian political and business delegation will be the first of its kind to a European state following the nuclear program deal, which says enough about the significance that Iran attaches to the cooperation with Serbia, said Fahimpour.

Ljajić and Fahimpour expect Iranian and Serbian businesspeople to seal specific agreements and business arrangements during the delegation’s visit, and it was also agreed for the joint committee on Serbia-Iran economic cooperation to meet in Tehran in November.
