Commissioner General of Serbia at EXPO Milano 2015 and Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Žarko Malinović said that the Serbian pavilion at the largest world exhibition in Milano was visited by more than 20,000 people in the first 20 days of the EXPO.
“We expect that in the next six months, more than 300,000 visitors will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the tourist, gastronomic, cultural and economic offer of our country,” says Malinović and notes that there is no better event to promote one’s country.
According to him, although Serbia has an extremely modest budget, it will be presented in the best way possible.
“The National Day of Serbia at this exhibition will be June 22, when the whole EXPO will be in the colors of Serbia, which will put our country, on that day, in the focus of the world public,” says Malinović, adding that a bilateral meeting between the state delegations of Serbia and Italy is planned, followed by the concert of Goran Bregović.
The theme of this year’s EXPO is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. Serbia is presenting itself with the slogan “Taste Food. Feel Life”. The visitors will be able to try all the specialties of our country, from Vojvodina to the far south of the country.
The Commissioner of Serbia at the EXPO announced that the promotion of our regions will begin next week, and that Vojvodina will be the first to present what it has. Great emphasis is also placed on the presentation of Belgrade as the Serbian capital of hedonism. Visitors will find out many details about our most famous festivals, Guča and Exit, and the idea of the organizers is to make every guest who comes to the pavilion of our country, want to visit Serbia.
The promotion of our cultural heritage is also planned, so on July 12, at St. Peter’s Day, the Serbian slava will be presented.
The distinctive features of Serbia include the Danube and the eastern part of Serbia, the Neolithic heritage and Lepenski vir, Leskovac, Ajvar, paprika… August will be the month of sport and healthy lifestyle, announced Malinović and said: “In Italy we are known by our athletes and they are our best ambassadors. During the film festival in Milano, in September, we will present Serbia as a destination for filmmaking, because that is a significant source of income for our country and a great way to promote it.”
In October, the focus will be on scientific achievements. Nikola Tesla is one of the most significant Serbs in terms of our civil contribution to the planet, said Malinović. “Tesla gave a big part of his scientific research to mankind. We will present our IT industry and innovation in the field of agriculture through him. We would like to introduce the “Tesla” tablet, which is a product developed by the “ComTrade” company, and “Tesla Fest”, a new major festival to be held in December for the first time this year,” said the Commissioner of Serbia at EXPO 2015.
