Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić stated today that the deployment of four new transmitters for the reception of digital signal within the territories of the municipalities Priboj and Prijepolje enabled quality reception of local and regional television programs for an additional five thousand citizens.
He elaborated that the transmitters on the hills Poljane and Kratovo were deployed today within the territory of Priboj, along with repeaters in Gostun and Seljašnica in the municipality of Prijepolje.
“For citizens it is of particular importance that they will be able to view 14 new local and regional TV channels.
This is especially the case for the 5,000 citizens who did not have the opportunity for good reception of local and regional broadcasters from the territory of the municipalities of Prijepolje and Priboj”, said Ljajić upon deploying the transmitter on the Poljane hill.
The Minister said that the opening of new transmitters will continue during the coming period, aimed at achieving maximum digital signal coverage, encompassing 98.5 percent of the population of Serbia.
“The percentage of coverage is now at 97.8 percent. The international standard is 95 percent, therefore we surpassed that and endeavor to set up additional repeaters wherever there are minimum technical capacities to enable citizens to receive the digital signal”, elaborated the Minister.
He noted that no country in the world has one-hundred-percent digital signal coverage, and the deployment of transmitters at six new locations across Serbia, planned for the next two to three months, will raise the coverage percentage to 98.5 percent of the population, representing an enormous success.
