Assistant Minister for Tourism Renata Pindžo said that so far about 6,300 citizens have registered for the vouchers for subsidized holidays in Serbia.
The Assistant Minister said that the authorities are thinking about organizing a similar campaign next year if the conditions are right. The first deadline for registration was July 15, but the responsible body realized that such a deadline is too short, and it has now been extended till October 15.
So far, more than 35 thousand overnight stays have been reserved in local hospitality facilities, mainly for September, October and November, said Pindžo. “That is very important to us because these are the months with the lowest tourist traffic in our tourist destinations” said the Assistant Minister. The biggest demand was for spas – Prolom, Lukovska, Vrnjačka, Sokobanja, Banja Koviljača, as well as for mountains – Tara, Zlatibor, Divčibare, Stara planina.
Mainly pensioners have registered for the vouchers, and they make up 70 percent of all applicants, followed by workers whose income does not exceed 60,000 RSD, then the unemployed, as well as users of someone else’s care and assistance, said the Assistant Minister.
