We should improve the economic relations between Serbia and Turkey

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić met today, in Belgrade, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu to discuss the possibility of improving the bilateral relations and especially the economic relations between the two countries.

Ljajić and Davutoğlu agreed that the large business forum of businessmen from Serbia and Turkey which is planned for September this year will give a powerful incentive to further strengthen the economic cooperation and increase the volume of trade between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Ljajić invited Turkish investors to invest more in the Serbian economy and to take active participation in the privatization process, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu expressed the readiness of some companies from his country to make new investments in Serbia.

The two ministers noted that the twinning of Belgrade and Istanbul will open a new page in the bilateral relations of the two countries and will stimulate closer cooperation between Serbian and Turkish businessmen. The upcoming signing of an agreement on cooperation in tourism between Serbia and Turkey was announced at the meeting.
