The first constitutive session of the Joint Committee on economic cooperation with the Republic of Poland began today. The current issues of bilateral trade and economic relations will be analyzed and joint activities will be defined in order to promote the economic cooperation between the two countries in the future.

The delegations are headed by Stevan Nikčević, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia and Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik, Undersecretary for State at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland.

The bilateral economic relations of the two countries are regulated by the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Poland, which was signed in Warsaw on June 1, 2011. The Joint Committee was formed based on this Agreement.

Based on the interest expressed by the two sides to further cooperation, expert negotiations shall be conducted in the areas of trade and tourism; economy and investment; scientific and technical cooperation; agriculture and environment protection; Energy and mining; traffic.

Poland is one of our major foreign trade partners. In 2013, it was ranked 8th (5th in the EU) in terms of the volume of foreign exchange.

A Serbian-Polish business forum, organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Polish-Balkan Chamber of Commerce, gathering 50 companies from both countries, will be held, parallel to the meeting of the Joint Committee.

A protocol will be signed about the activities and recommendations agreed during the meeting of the Joint Committee.
