A meeting was held on Tuesday, June 3, between the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, headed by Minister Srđan Verbić, the representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, headed by the Assistant to the Minister Nebojša Vasiljević, and the representatives of the Academic Network of Serbia (AMRES). The relevant Ministries aim to cooperate on strengthening the role of information and communication technologies in education.
During the meeting, they agreed on the next steps in the implementation of the Guidelines for promoting the role of ICT in education, which were established by the National Education Council, as well as on concrete cooperation on a number of current issues.
One of the topics discussed at the meeting was connecting the schools to the Academic Network of Serbia via ADSL in accordance with the recently signed Protocol between the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and Telekom Serbia. The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development expressed their support to the project idea of creating local computer networks in primary schools as well as forming a budget fund to finance this project.
The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications organized this meeting with the aim of discussing further steps in introducing ICT in education and the role of new technologies in managing the education system.
