The Parliamentary Committee for Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy adopted the Bill on Consumer Protection with a majority vote.
During the session, where the Committee considered the Bill on Consumer Protection, seven amendments were adopted by a majority vote and accepted by the Government of Serbia.
The novelty in this legislative proposal is that a company’s response to a possible request for
replacement, repair or refund because of dissatisfaction with the quality of an item, must be given within 8 days.
The new provisions of the Law will enable domestic buyers to cancel their order without explanation within 14 days when buying at a distance (delivery, Internet).
Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić has already announced that court fees will be abolished for consumer disputes less than 500,000 RSD, in order to encourage consumers to fight for their rights through the courts.
