Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro ask European Commission for lower roaming prices

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic, Minister of Information Society and Public Administration Ivo Ivanovski and Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information Society Vujica Lazovic today in Skopje signed and sent a letter to the European Commission proposing an extension of the application of the EU Regulation on roaming prices to these three countries, which would mean lower prices for roaming services to their citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications said that as of 1 June last year reduced, the difference between roaming and national tariffs in the EU has been reduced.

Under the EU regulation, the roaming prices in the EU will be further decrease in the coming years.

The application of the EU Regulation on roaming on Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro would bring direct benefits to our citizens and would certainly contribute to the overall increase in telecommunications traffic, Ljajic, Ivanovski and Lazovic stated in the letter.

The ministers agreed to sign a trilateral memorandum on cooperation in the field of telecommunications and information and communication technology in September in Montenegro, which will create space for further improvement of Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro in these industries.
