Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic confirmed that as of today Serbia is on the PayPal list of countries, allowing payments and money transfers on the internet.
The Serbian citizens will be able to open accounts on PayPal and buy online on the global market, Ljajic explained.
This is a great thing for the Serbian economy, consumers and all citizens, Ljajic noted.
The service will be activated in several phases, so for now it is only possible to buy and send money, he said.
The next phase, which is also important for businessmen, will include receiving money from abroad, and it can be expected very quickly, the Minister said.
He thanked the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) and other state institutions that were actively involved in this process, given that it was necessary to adapt the legislation to have PayPal come to Serbia.
