National Conference on the safety of children on the Internet and the safe use of ICT in Serbia

Assistant Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications, Nebojša Vasiljević stated today, at the opening of the National Conference on the safety of children on the Internet and the safe use of ICT in Serbia, that the Internet is a rapidly growing field, but that it is also a field which is still out of the regulatory process.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Nenad Borovčanin presented the campaign against hate speech on the Internet (No hate speech) and called on the relevant conference participants to join the work of the National Committee for the fight against hate speech on the Internet.

Ivan Jelić from the B92 Fund presented the activities of the National Safer Internet Center of Serbia in its first year of operation, their experiences and the most important challenges in the area of protection of children, as well as other Internet users. He also presented the activities implemented by other national authorities, local and international organizations in Serbia, as well as the planned activities for the future.

The Conference was organized by the relevant ministry in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the B92 Fund, at the MPs’ club (Klub Poslanika), as part of the “Click Safely – Safer Internet Center of Serbia”.

The National Conference on the safety of children on the Internet was attended by representatives of the relevant ministries of the Republic of Serbia, judicial and regulatory agencies, school administrations, the corporate sector, NGOs and international organizations, as well as representatives of organizations working to improve the safety of children and other ICT users, and promote the safe use of the Internet.
