Assistant Minister for Tourism Renata Pindžo has stated at the opening of the 19th International Fair of Tourism and Outdoor Holiday that the fair is only another opportunity for the City of Niš and entire Serbia present and demonstrate what they have.
“Niš has a wonderful nature, extremely valuable cultural and historical heritage but first of all it is best known for its hospitality. Tourism in Serbia has developed a lot, which only boosted Niš and entire Serbia”, says Mrs Pindžo.
Assistant Minister has reminded that for years the line Ministry has been supporting the most significant brand of Niš, which is “Nisville” festival, having in mind the fact that Niš wants to get nominated for the cultural capital of Europe.
She has added that the Ministry, together with the local self-government, has invested significant funds for the reconstruction of the Niš fortress. The good results achieved by Niš in tourism, according to Mrs Pindžo, have been supported by the fact that Niš and Niška banja have been involved in the voucher system.
City of Niš was visited by over 100.000 tourists in 2017, and the basic revenues of the city in the observed period, based on the residence tax, were 24.6 million dinars.
This year’s Fair of Tourism and Outdoor Holiday in Niš, which lasts until March 31, will host more than 130 exhibitors from Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Republic of Srpska, and Serbia.
In addition to the outdoor holiday as the topic of the Fair, this year’s accent is on the gastronomical and wine offers which primarily refers to the presentation and tasting of characteristic local cuisine of the exhibitors.
