Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić started today a tour of all local governments with significant tourism potential, in order to improve the implementation of the competition for the allocation of subsidies and grants for the development of tourism, which was announced on Monday by the Ministry of trade, tourism and telecommunications.
The first two destinations to be visited are Viminacium and the Golubac Fortress.
The total value of the subsidies that the ministry will award to local governments in Serbia for development projects in tourism, and especially tourism infrastructure, is 450 million RSD, while for the promotion of tourism products and events, 137 million RSD will be allocated.
Ljajić noted that the latest data indicates that 10 percent more tourists visited Serbia in January 2015, than in January last year.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 8 percent, while the number of foreign tourists increased by 12 percent compared to January last year. These data are encouraging and we expect 2015 to be a record year in every aspect, said Ljajić.
