Message to children and youth about not engaging in “challenge games“

State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications. Tatjana Matić has said that the National contact for online safety of children has received no report regarding the alleged games on social networks, named “48 hours challenge”.

According to the media statements and statuses on the internet, this “game” includes children competing in who will most successfully hide from parents. Even though there are no official data on such cases, State Secretary has warned that we should be cautious because of this activity on social networks.

“Any form of communication with strangers and acceptance of requests from unknown addresses and accounts is considered risk behaviour on the Internet, and might have serious consequences. This is why it is important to pay a special attention to online activities of the children and youth, and their education about dangers on the Internet. It is of special importance to draw their attention to avoiding the engagement in so called “challenge games” which are designed for younger population”, said Ms Tatjana Matić, reminding that all citizens can get advice or report any form of abuse of new technologies to the National contact centre for online safety of children, to the phone number 19833, using the portal and social groups www.pametnoibezbedno.gov.rs , or to the mail address bit@mtt.gov.rs
