State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić officially put into operation the network for digital broadcasting on the Ovčar Mountain near Čačak, and on this occasion, Matić said that starting today Šumadija and Pomoravlje, Eastern Serbia and the Zlatibor region will be covered exclusively by digital signals, because the broadcasting station in Rudnik-Crni vrh, Tupižnica, Tornik-Ovčar and Deli Jovan have been included in the final digital network.
In Western Serbia, on top of the Ovčar Mountain, at a height of 985 meters, there were a TV antenna and a transmitter which were destroyed during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, and a completely new transmission station has been built on that location.
“Ovčar” is the first broadcasting station to be rebuilt after the NATO bombing. The construction of a new pillar, 120 meters high, and a large antenna system facing the four corners of the world, have modernized all the equipment for broadcasting radio and television signals.
“This is the penultimate digital transmitter to be switched to digital television broadcasting. The end of the process of transition from analog to digital television broadcasting will be marked by putting into operation the network for digital broadcasting at Besna kobila, Jastrebac, Kopaonik, Cer-Maljen, which will digitize south Serbia and thus the process of digitization will be completed”, said the State Secretary.
