State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić opened today the 22nd Telecommunications Forum (Telfor), organized in Sava Center by the Telecommunications Society, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Belgrade and the IEEE Communications Society – Serbia and Montenegro Chapter.

“By stimulating economic growth through new services and openness to investment, information and communication technologies create the conditions for job creation, increase productivity of business processes as well as revenue and rate of return on investment,” said the State Secretary.

Telfor is an international annual event for professionals working in the field of telecommunications and information technology. During the conference, a series of sessions were organized where relevant issues in the field of telecommunications and information technology were discussed and promoted: technical, developmental, regulatory and economic issues relating to the production of equipment, provision of services, and operation of the system.

Matić pointed out that one of the key priorities of the Ministry is further development of electronic communications and the use of new technologies and services.

Telfor brings together several dozen international and domestic companies that are involved in the work of Telfor in various ways. Within Telfor, prizes were awarded to: Ilija Stojanović – for best scientific paper and best student paper, Blažo Mirčevski – for the best paper by a young author.

“Today’s economy leads to the creation of immaterial assets, such as knowledge and information. The new economy and new technology are inextricably linked and form one unit, which is the basis for successful functioning and development of all participants in the business activity,” said Tatjana Matić.

The participation of over 2000 visitors is expected at the conference, which runs until November 27, 2014, and between 300 and 500 research papers will be presented.
