Ljajić: The most valuable thing is human lives

Everyone needs to evacuate from Obrenovac because there is no other way to save what is most valuable and that is human lives, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić, who, together with rescuers from Novi Sad, visited by boat the completely flooded Obrenovac today.

On that occasion, Ljajić said that it is necessary that all citizens who remained cut off in their homes, leave the city and urged all citizens to follow the recommendations of state agencies and rescuers.

“Today we evacuated a number of people, some still remain in the city and we’ve delivered basic food assistance to them, but this is not a solution,” said Ljajić.

“They need to leave Obrenovca for the simple reason that there is no other way to save what is most valuable, and that is people’s lives. Sure, the material damage is immeasurable at this point but that is not the most important thing, the most important thing today is saving lives, and we will continue to do that in the coming days,” concluded Ljajić.
