Ljajić ordered increased inspections of traders during the emergency situation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia Rasim Ljajić, ordered today increased inspections of trade facilities due to complaints about unjustified raising of prices of basic foodstuffs during the ongoing emergency situation.

“Unconscientious traders thus directly violate the Law on Trade and all Government’s decisions on eliminating the consequences caused by the catastrophic flooding. The actions of market Inspectors, during an emergency situation, are rigorous and involve the most severe measures, penalties and consequences for those who abuse this situation,” stated Ljajić.

He added that the market inspectors will file violation reports against traders who break the law, and shall notify the Ministry of the Interior.

Ljajić announced that today he will, together with market inspectors, visit the shops in the towns from which reports of unjustified price changes are coming.

He urged citizens to report any unscrupulous price changes to the Market Inspection, which will constantly be on duty for the duration of the emergency situation.

The Market Inspectorate hotline that citizens can call and report abuse retailers in an emergency is 011 2699 610.
