In the first seven months, 1,551,395 tourists visited Serbia, which is an increase of 13 percent compared to the same period in 2015, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić said today.
The number of domestic tourists amounted to 867,066, which is 14 percent more compared to the mentioned period, and the number of foreign tourists was 684,329 which is an increase of 11 percent, said Ljajić.
A total of 4,355,615 of overnight stays was recorded, which is 14 percent more than in the same period last year, said Ljajić.
He added that foreign guests mainly visited Belgrade with 756,856 overnight stays, which is an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period in 2015.
The largest number of arrivals was realized by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina with 53,849 arrivals, while the largest increase in the number of arrivals was recorded with tourists from Turkey, with an increase of 45 percent compared to the same period last year, said Deputy Prime Minister.
According to his words, in the first six months, the foreign currency income from tourism has been on the rise by 14 percent and amounts to 413 million euros, or 461 million US dollars.
“The campaign of assigning vouchers contributed to the growth in tourist traffic, especially when it comes to overnight stays of domestic tourists. So far, 45,103 vouchers have been distributed, out of a total of 46,000”, Ljajić concluded.
