Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić met today with the representatives of the Furniture Industry Association of China, led by the president of that organization Ding Zuohong. They discussed the prospects for Chinese investments in the wood industry and furniture manufacturing in Serbia.
The Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajić noted that the comparative advantages of Serbia in the wood industry and furniture manufacturing are the large supply of raw materials, skilled workforce and the concluded free trade agreements with several countries that allow Serbia access to a market of 800 million people, and invited Chinese investors to take advantage of these opportunities and invest in the Serbian furniture industry.
The President of the Furniture Industry Association of China Ding Zuohong expressed the interest of the members of this organization for the purchase of certain furniture factories in Serbia, as well as the desire of Chinese investors to build an industrial zone in our country for manufacturing furniture and home decorations.
Ding Zuohong expressed the expectation that both ideas of the Chinese investors will be quickly realized, adding that China is one of the leading furniture manufacturers in the world with more than 50,000 companies, employing nearly five million people in that field.
