IT Caravan 02 for primary school pupils in Subotica

“The Internet is a great place both for having fun and for learning, but in this virtual world what you need at the same is to be careful as well as in the real world, to be active but aware of dangers”, say State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić, to the primary school pupils of Subotica to whom the programme of the campaign “IT Caravan 02” was presented in the cultural centre “Nepker”.

She has reminded of the current threat on the Internet, the so called game “blue whale”, but also other, confirmed “game challenges”, and of cyber attack “wannacrypt”, warning the children that it is necessary to protect their computers, but primarily themselves, their family and friends.

“Don’t communicate with strangers, don’t leave your personal data online and talk to your parents and teachers on things going on on the Internet”, Says Ms Matić, inviting the children to address the contact centre of the Ministry at phone number 19833 for all questions and advice, where they can also report online abuse and bullying.

Using the opportunity the State Secretary has given the representatives of schools “Ivan Goran Kovačić” and “Kizur Ištvan” educational sets of robots for learning of programming, and an interactive presentation was given to children on online safety and after that a workshop on robotics.

The pupils were addressed by Igor Jurić, the founder of Tijana Jurić Foundation, who underlined the importance of the cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications in the fight for online protection of children.

He has stated that the Foundation, with the support of the Ministry, has realised the project “Online Safety, Safety in Life”, covering 40 educational workshops for pupils of higher grades of primary school on a proper use of the Internet, safer and possible online dangers for children.

The campaign of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, for smart and safe use of new technologies “IT Caravan” was launched in 2016, and this year is being realised starting from April 12 until May 25, in the following cities: Novi Pazar, Pirot, Niš, Zaječar, Kraljevo, Užice, Čačak, Valjevo, Kragujevac, Subotica, Novi Sad, Pančevo and Sombor.
