Inspiration for future generations

State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matić, said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Tesla’s work on energy – an inspiration for future generations” that the Ministry took part in the organization of the exhibition in accordance with its priority to direct its programs for the development of information society primarily towards education.

“With the rapid development of new technologies, we see our role in the proper channeling of using information and communication technologies, especially among young people,” said Tatjana Matić.

The exhibition in the Gallery of Science and Technology, organized by the Serbian Academy of Science and Technology, Nikola Tesla Museum and the School of Electrical Engineering is primarily intended for the younger audience.

The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications also marked Tesla’s jubilee with the IT caravan campaign, which was implemented in 15 cities in Serbia from April to June 2016, under the slogan “Smart and Safe.” Primary school students who attended educational presentations of the IT caravan on the use of new technologies participated in the prize contest, submitting photographs on the topic “Thanks to Tesla”.

The best photos of the author Viktorija Dragić, 7th grade student of elementary school “Vuk Karadzic” from Kruševac, were presented at this exhibition, and on this occasion, the State Secretary Tatjana Matić formally awarded the prize to the author – a “Tesla” tablet, which was provided by the company “Comtrade”.

The exhibition at the Gallery of Science and Technology, which is open until 21 July, also comprises a documentary film from the IT caravan, in which students from the school “Sonja Marinković” from Subotica talk about Tesla’s life and work and the contributions that he made to Serbian and world science.

At the opening ceremony, the audience was addressed by the President of SASA and academic Vladimir S. Kostić, the organizer of the exhibition, academic Dejan Popović, and director of the gallery and academic Zoran Petrović.
