Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic met today with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Bin Abdullah Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud to discuss the improvement of overall economic relations between the two countries.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications said that during the meeting they also discussed the possibilities for the arrival of Qatari investments in Serbia.
Ljajic said that they agreed to sign bilateral agreements on economic and technical cooperation and trade, as well as an agreement on investment protection, which, along with the existing agreement on avoidance of double taxation, will be the basis for further improvement of economic relations.
Representatives of the Qatar Investment Fund will soon arrive in Serbia to present their projects, primarily in the field of energy and infrastructure development, said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He pointed out that Qatar is interested in qualified, highly skilled labour force from Serbia, and added that approximately 50 engineers from the company Energoprojekt work in Qatar and that the airline Qatar Airways employs 250 Serbian citizens.
We could increase the number of highly educated and skilled workers from Serbia in Qatar, said Ljajic.
