Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić said today that the implementation of the agreement on lower roaming costs between: Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina should begin by the end of June 2015.
We expect this process to start in all four countries by June 2015, despite the disapproval of mobile phone operators, said Ljajić at the celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Ratel).
Ljajić said that he does not expect operators to be damaged by lowering the price of calls and data transfer via mobile phones, as the increase in frequency of data traffic in roaming should compensate the loss.
Based on the agreement of the regulatory bodies of the four countries, the maximum price of a call in roaming starting June 30, 2015 will be EUR 0.29 per minute for outgoing calls and EUR 0.08 per minute for incoming calls and the lowering of prices would continue in July 2016 and 2017.
The Minister said that Ratel successfully completed the auction for the distribution of the frequency spectrum 1800 MHz, which generated revenue to the state in the value of 21 million euros, and successfully introduced the fourth generation of mobile networks (4G) in Serbia.
Ljajić said that the process of transition to digital television broadcasting has begun,
and will be completed in Serbia by June 15, two days before the deadline, said Ljajić.
