Secretary of State Tatjana Matic at yesterday’s awards ceremony of the First Cup High School of Mathematics at the National Assembly, was officially presented prize to the best team of Bulgaria in the field of computer science, while the teams of Belgrade Mathematical High School received recognition in mathematics and physics.

Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications is sponsor of this international competition.

At the competition in mathematics, physics and computer science in the Cup of Mathematical High School, are attended by pupils aged up to 15 years from ten countries.

About 90 athletes from 19 teams came from Russia, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Macedonia, Turkey, the Republic of Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For the first time after more than 30 years in Belgrade is held competition of young mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists at the international level, as the Mathematical High School was  hosted the Cup in 1977 for the last time.

The goal of the competition is to encourage the development of students’ skills and knowledge in these areas, as well as the awareness that our country’s future science is very important.
