A decision to form a Working Group to consolidate the infrastructure of the information systems of state bodies was adopted today at the session of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The task of the Working Group will be to prepare a detailed analysis of the infrastructure of information systems of state bodies, and to propose concrete measures for the consolidation of the infrastructure of computer networks, server infrastructure and software platforms.
The Working Group is being formed in order to use the capacities of information systems of state bodies more efficiently, and to maintain and further develop these systems. In order to meet some of the strategic goals of the information society, it is necessary to examine the current state of computer networks at all levels, as well as that of server infrastructure, resources in data centers and software platforms.
One of the priorities of the Strategy for the Development of Information Society in the Republic of Serbia until 2020 is the use of ICT in administrative bodies and public enterprises, in order to ensure that all citizens and businesses may execute administrative procedures in a simpler, faster and cheaper manner. The development of information systems of state bodies is important for increasing the efficiency of their work and increasing transparency and accountability through the innovative use of ICT. The consolidation of infrastructure in this area should further increase the efficiency and reduce the costs of further development.
The professional and administrative tasks of the Working Group will be performed by the Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications, and by the completion of the task, the Working Group shall submit to the Government a report on its work, as well as concrete proposals of measures.
