6.6 million euros from EU funds for the restoration of the Golubac fortress

State secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Lukrecija Đeri stated that this year’s budget does not provide means for the development of tourism, but that there will still be development projects, which is indicated by the recently signed contracts with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) on the restoration of the Golubac fortress, and construction of water supply systems on the Silver Lake.

The contract on the restoration of the Golubac fortress, worth 6.6 million euros, was signed on July 21, and the project entails a complete reconstruction of the fortress, and is financed from EU funds, stated Đeri for the Tanjug News Agency.

On the same day, a contract was signed with the ADA on the construction of water supply systems on the Silver Lake at Veliko Gradište, worth 4.4 million euros, which will also be financed from EU funds.

By relocating the arterial highway pass through the Golubac fortress and building completely new infrastructure, the fortress will become an attractive tourist destination with hospitality related contents, and room for different exhibitions and museum manifestations, stated Đeri.
