State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić has participated in the event marking the beginning of the campaign “16 days of activism to combat violence against women”, held at the Ustanova kulture Parobrod.

On the behalf of the Ministry, the State Secretary has supported the campaign implemented by the Coordination Body for Gender Equality of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women – UN Women in Serbia, pointing out the significance of such actions for raising the awareness on the necessity of protecting the victims of violence, of curbing violence against women and of improving the human rights in general.

In this manner Serbia is joining the global campaign “Orange the World – End Violence against Women and Girls”, started on November 25, with the International Day of Fight against Violence against Women, ending on December 10, with the International Day of Human Rights.

16 days of activism to combat violence against women

The aim of this campaign is to activate social and wider public to initiate joint actions of prevention and curbing of violence against women.

This occasion is used to mark the second anniversary of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality of the Government of Serbia.
