Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić has said that a Statement of EU Leaders will be signed with the representatives of the WB countries in the EU Summit, on the support to the digital agenda, which is a step towards the agreement between the European Union and the countries in the region regarding the abolition of roaming charges, but that the process will not be simple, fast, nor easy.

The agenda, as explained by Mr Ljajić for Beta Agency, should state the mentioned support to the reduction of the roaming charges in the West Balkans, and contain the item stating the support to the process of abolition of roaming charges.

“The process of abolition of roaming charges means the modification of the existing EU Directive which includes the abolition of roaming charges only for the EU Member States, and we should bear in mind the interests of the operators. This is why it is clear that this process won’t be simple, fast, nor easy, but that this means a step forward towards the abolition of roaming charges. We should not have unrealistic expectations”, Mr Ljajić emphasized.

Minister has also reminded that Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia have already signed the agreement on a reduction of roaming charges.
