State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić has said at the ceremonial opening of the conference about the Day of Internet Domain of Serbia, that the need to affirmation of the national recognition at the world network, which was identified by other countries as well, has proved to be justified, especially in relation to the boosted growth of use of the Internet in our country.
She has reminded that ten years ago in Serbia the national .rs domain was established, 33.2% of households had an Internet connection, and 91.5 per cent of enterprises.
“Todays, 68 per cent of the households have an Internet connection, and almost 100 per cent of enterprises, and 70.5 per cent of individuals actively use the Internet. Serbian society, together with Serbian economy is therefore practically a part of the global digitalisation process, and we believe that it is of huge importance that in the world network it has its established name, i.e. institutionally supported system”, says Ms Matić, stating that the system now has over 100.000 domains.
