Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić met today with US Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott, discussing the improvement of the overall economic relations between the two countries, as well as future joint projects in the field of telecommunications and information technologies.
Deputy Prime Minister Ljajić and Ambassador Scott have agreed that the project of introducing wireless internet into all primary and secondary schools in Serbia and their networking into a unified information system, planned to be implemented by the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the American company “CISCO”, will significantly contribute to achieving the highest global standards in our country’s school system.
Ljajić also informed Scott on the forthcoming start of the joint campaign by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and “Microsoft”, aimed at introducing schoolchildren to modern technologies in education, as well as methods to increase child safety online.
During the meeting Ljajić expressed gratitude to the Embassy of USA on recent assistance in drafting the Law on Information Security, newly adopted due to the increased level of protection of information systems in Serbia.
