The Serbian Government has extended the provision which stipulates the obligatory production of bread from type T-500 wheat and limits the price of that bread to 46 RSD,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić.
“Bearing in mind that the price of wheat is slightly lower than in January this year and that there were no changes in other costs involved in the price of bread, there is no economic justification for an increase in the price of that type of bread,” explained Ljajić.
The Minister pointed out that he does not expect disturbances in this area in the upcoming period, given that the wheat harvest in Serbia is over and equals about 2.4 million tons which will be sufficient for domestic needs, amounting to about 1.5 million tons of wheat, as well as for export.
The Provision on the mandatory production and trade of bread T-500 shall enter into force on August 1, 2015 and will be valid for six months, until January 31, 2016.
