Ljajić: Serbia becoming more attractive to foreign investors

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić said that the arrival of the French retail chain “Emmezeta” is proof that Serbia is becoming increasingly attractive for foreign investment.

“The arrival of such a brand is making Serbia an even more attractive investment destination,” Ljajić said at a cocktail party, held to mark the opening of the “Emmezeta” store in Belgrade.

The store will have around 46,000 items on offer, one-quarter of which will be made in Serbia, said Ljajić.

“This is a great opportunity for local manufacturers, primarily furniture makers, even though the wood processing industry is in crisis,” noted Ljajić, adding that “Emmezeta” will employ 160 people.

French Ambassador to Serbia Christine Moro said that Serbia should continue to improve its business environment in order to attract more French companies.

“Emmezeta” is part of the Conforama Group, world`s second largest retailer of home furnishing, with headquarters in France.
