Matić: TV equipment with the Guarantee Stamp for a good signal

Speaking at the TV show “Srbija na Vezi”, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matić said that anyone who comes to Serbia during the summer will be able to purchase an adequate STB device, and that set-top-boxes bought abroad will probably not work because they do not meet certain technical specifications.

“With the switch off of analog signal broadcasting in Vojvodina and on Avala, the larger part of the population is covered exclusively by digital TV signals. After Vojvodina and Avala, we will put digital television broadcasting into operation in the south of Serbia, including Kopaonik, Jastrebac and Cer-Maljen. The digitization process will be completed ahead of schedule, in the first week of June,” said Tatjana Matić.

Speaking about set-top boxes for receiving digital TV signals in Serbia, she stated that in our country, and for our region, there are certain specifications that these devices have to meet.

“The specifications are very clearly defined and the STB devices made exclusively for this area have the mark “Digital TV” on them, said Tatjana Matić and added that this kind of a guarantee stamp can be found only on the devices which can be bought in Serbia.

Matić noted that the Government of the Republic of Serbia has passed a regulation which states that the most vulnerable categories of the population are entitled to a free STB device. A total of 160 000 of citizens which fall under this category, received vouchers for the subsidized purchase of STB devices, and about 80% of the vouchers throughout Serbia have been used.

She added that all the retailers who have signed up to participate in the scheme to help the vulnerable categories have provided free delivery to the home addresses of the consumers which was very important.
