Ljajić: ZTE’s arrival is of great importance for Serbia

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić said today that the arrival of the Chinese corporation ZTE to the Serbian market will be of great importance for our country because it will boost competitiveness and quality.

Ljajić signed today a memorandum on cooperation with the deputy president of this corporation.

“It is the largest telecommunications company in China. We have constant growth in this field. A large company is arriving on this market, which will boost competitiveness and quality,” said Ljajić.

He said that during the summit, talks were held with China on the development of tourism, and expressed hope that Serbia will sign an agreement and an action plan that provides attracting greater numbers of Chinese tourists to Serbia.

He said that talks were also held with the representatives of Bulgaria and Romania on opening a joint tourism representative office in Beijing in order to increase the number of Chinese tourists in this region.

Ljajić said that this year, 95 million Chinese tourists toured the world and spent 70 billion dollars, which is a huge potential for our economy because an increase in the number of Chinese tourists in Serbia would increase foreign exchange inflows.

Ljajić said that the first group, consisting of 40 Chinese tourists, who will stay in Serbia under the new visa regime, arrived yesterday.

According to him, the number of tourists who arrived to Serbia this year is more by 57 percent than last year.

Ljajić expressed hope that the trend of growth will continue and that the China-CEEC Economic and Trade Forum, which was held in Belgrade, will certainly contribute to that.
