The Serbian Parliament adopted today the Law on Export and Import of Arms and Military Equipment, which introduces a single register for all persons involved in the import and export of arms and military equipment.
The Law aims to establish control in the area of import and export of arms and military equipment in order to ensure and protect the defense, security and foreign policy interests of Serbia.
The Law outlines the conditions of export and import, transport and transit of arms and military equipment, and defines the procedure of issuance of permits and the authorization of the competent authorities.
The relevant authorities for the permitting process, including the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, The Ministry of Defense, The Ministry of interior and the Ministry of foreign affairs, The Ministry of Justice, the Security Information Agency, the Customs Administration, and European experts were all involved in the process of drafting this Law.
