A roundtable on ICT in education

Tatjana Matić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and Srđan Verbić, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia opened today, at the Palace of Serbia, the round table on the topic of “Education supported by information and communication technologies”.

The roundtable was organized by the National Education Council and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, with technical and financial support from the British Council and the Team for Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

The aim of the roundtable is to understand the priorities in the implementation of the Guidelines for promoting the role of ICT in education, which were prepared and adopted by the National Education Council of the Republic of Serbia in 2013, where Nebojša Vasiljević, Assistant to Minister in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications actively participated in writing the guidelines.

Stakeholders in the fields of education and e-governance presented the Guidelines for promoting the role of ICT in education and discussed the role of new technologies in the effective management of the education system and the use of new technologies in teaching and learning.

Participants representing the relevant ministries have agreed on steps which must be taken in order to establish an interdisciplinary council and approve the action plan, they also agreed on the fact that interagency cooperation is the key to success.

The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, and the National Education Council expressed their readiness to jointly contribute to the faster implementation of the recommendations of the Guidelines for promoting the role of ICT in education.
