Head of the OSCE Mission\u00a0in\u00a0Serbia,\u00a0Pola\u00a0Tide,\u00a0havecalled the Ministry of\u00a0Foreign and Domestic Trade and Telecommunications\u00a0that\u00a0the\u00a0national television frequency, which remained vacant\u00a0by\u00a0shutting down TV “Avala”, used in the digitalization\u00a0process.<\/p>\n

According to a\u00a0letter,\u00a0that Tide\u00a0sent\u00a0to\u00a0Minister Rasim Ljajic, the OSCE Mission to Serbia is closely monitoring the process of\u00a0television\u00a0digitalization because of its importance for the future of electronic media and on media pluralism in the country.<\/p>\n

“I would like to welcome the recent decision of the RBA to not\u00a0allowed\u00a0a free national frequency\u00a0to anyone of the tender participants\u00a0and to encourage you to choose this frequency for the implementation of digitalization,” said Tide.<\/p>\n

This,\u00a0as\u00a0she said,\u00a0would be\u00a0in full compliance with the commitment to accelerate implementation\u00a0of the strategy of digitalization\u00a0in Serbia.<\/p>\n

“We understand that in this process there are a lot of obstacles, including the lack of available frequencies,\u00a0thatmaking impossible\u00a0on\u00a0charge\u00a0of Public Company\u00a0Emision technique\u00a0to expand the network to test the system,\u00a0to\u00a0test installed equipment in which they are invested significant resources and\u00a0to organize\u00a0parallel broadcasting\u00a0ofanalogue and digital TV signals,\u00a0in\u00a0the period\u00a0before\u00a0the deadline for the transition on\u00a0digital broadcasting in June 2015”\u00a0said\u00a0Tide.<\/p>\n

She said that\u00a0delayed or\u00a0poorly implemented digitalizationwould be very harmful for both the broadcasters and the citizens of Serbia, adding that the release frequency for digitization\u00a0is\u00a0initiated the process and allow\u00a0being\u00a0finished on time.<\/p>\n

Bearing in mind a lot of\u00a0benefits for the citizens of Serbia, including\u00a0in\u00a0a quality television signal, new channels and more choice of programs\u00a0content,\u00a0as\u00a0to increase\u00a0the\u00a0state revenue from free frequencies, it is essential\u00a0that thepreparations\u00a0for the transition to digital broadcasting\u00a0should be\u00a0accelerate,\u00a0says Tide.<\/p>\n

She added that the Mission is ready to\u00a0help\u00a0the Ministry andto\u00a0other authorities in Serbia\u00a0to complete the digitalizationprocess as planned.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
